The Directorate of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) under the Ministry of Defense was established in 1972, shortly after independence, by order of the President to conduct publicity and public relations work for the Armed Forces and other Inter-Services Organizations.
With limited manpower and equipment, the ISPR’s office was first set up in a small part of the old High Court building next to the Defense Ministry’s office building. Mr. Zahid Hossain was appointed as the first Director of the ISPR Directorate. The manpower of this department including the then 06 officers was 36.
